The base of elements
The software allows for the access to the database of round, rectangular and flexible shafts produced by ALNOR Ventilation Systems Ltd. We do our best to include in the database also the products of other producers.
Separate types of elements are represented in the database by legible icons.
After choosing the icon, a dialog box open and now we are able to choose "Size" and "Element’s view with a setting point " (sometimes, also accessories of the kind: "Extent of shutting of a throttle ", "Engine type" etc.). We input also the installation symbol (if it was not given before). The element, defined this way, may be set into a project with a use of a cursor, just like a regular Autocad block, but with some rationalization on placing the description.
Above, there is a window of rectangular joint, which size is defined by the designer, who gives all its parameters. It is easy to produce the database of all parameters of such an element.
There is a useful option of setting the shafts, which consist in „spreading” the shaft between two indicated points.
Elements edition
This is the edition window of ALNORA ventilation grate.
The edition window of the element is identical to a setting window, so we can change all the parameters established during the elements setting e.g. the parameter or the installation number.
But we are also able to CHANGE FIGURE-VIEW of the element already set in.
On the picture above, upper (purple) section of the branch has been obtained by copying the view (below) to the top and, with the use of edition, changing figure-view of the adapter and angles achieving this way displayed section of the branch. (In the end, using the group edition, the counting of the upper branch is turned off, so it would not be doubled in the listing, that is why the purple color has been used)
The edition, thanks to its range, is the strong point of the software.
Under the button "More", there is an example of interference in the catalogue number and in the element’s description in the listing.
If we change the size of the joint, we can use a special command to edit the shaft which connects to it. Such a shaft, after clicking on an icon, changes its diameter and length, adjusting itself to the changed joint.
Own element
It is possible to add "own" element to the project.
There is a separate command icon, which creates, from the indicated drawing object, an element accepted by the overlay
Above, there is a window of parameter definitions of the own element (here, a roof ventilator).
Besides the descriptive parameters of the object, required for the listing purposes, also points of contact of the object with the installation should be indicated. It is necessary to allow the software to move through the installation (calculation of the fall in the pressure).
Listing
The software automatically creates listings of elements used in the project. Content of the listing is in accordance with the generally accepted rules.
The listing may be created in the form of a picture table (as presented above) or its content is exported to TXT file. The software may create two versions of the listing: classic and a version where the elements are categorized according to the producers, this solution makes the execution of the orders easier.
Calculations
Calculations are made according to simple rules.
You may calculate the fall in the pressure in the installation, or in its part, created with the use of the software.
Of course, before executing the command “Calculate” it is necessary to define required efficiency parameters on both endings of the installation.
After the calculation, we use separate commands to view its results to check whether the calculated installation is balanced.
If not, we introduce changes in the installation, as in reality, by shutting the throttle or, with the use of the edition, adding some enhancing element, etc.
We repeat the calculations and check the results to the bitter end.
Above, the effects, of the execution of a command to view a single elementary direction, are presented (here: exhaust adapter).
In the command line, the fall in the pressure and the sum of the falls in the branch to this point are displayed. In the window box, that opens above, there are more details visible.
The command is also used to input manually the local fall in the pressure for the given direction (i.e. own calculation indicators).
Remote fragments of the installation may be connected virtually, in order to create continuity of the installation for the calculation purposes. The view above presents the main branch, marked for the installation control purposes, that demonstrates such a joint installation for the calculation purposes.
Balance of the falls in the pressure
The commands to view the calculation results and to estimate possible lack of balance are crucial during the process of balancing the falls in the pressure.
The command to view the elementary direction (here: exhaust adapter) displays in the window box „Element data” the sums of the falls in the branches connected to two directions of the adapter (column "Sum[Pa]").
There is a command that displays the list (above) of all adapter in the project, along with complete data on balancing the falls in the pressure.
Below, there is a listing of all elementary directions in the calculated installation, grouped in branches with the main branch at the beginning.
Choice of a ventilator
Thanks to the fact that the calculation of the falls in the pressure find the main branch of the installation (so to speak, by the way), it is possible to define the installation data that will be used during the process of choosing the ventilator.
It is executed by the command, which effect is presented below.
Auxiliary commands
The software includes many auxiliary commands that make easier managing, sometimes very complicated, the installations of the ventilation systems.
E.g., there is a command that displays the values, defined in advance, of the efficiency of inlets and outlets of the installation.
The effect of the execution of this command is presented on the picture above.
Another command shows the route of the main branch of the calculated installation (the highest fall in the pressure).
Besides this, the command, on request, marks all the objects in the project that have the lowest fall in the pressure (own elements or those without calculation indicators).
It is also possible to indicate (to remember) all the elements for which the falls in the pressure were set manually.
Here, the objects, marked by the command, are red.
Overlay is equipped with a trade calculator that calculates basic values connected to the calculation of the ventilation installations.
Instruction manual
The software contains also, written in accessible language, instruction manual.
It consists of two parts.
Part one, illustrated with the pictures, presents the way of creation and addition of the installation with the use of the overlay.
Part two describes the way of calculating the created installation.
The calculations are introduced through an example from the attached training picture.
Besides the example, there is also a description of calculation commands and commands allowing the view of the calculation results.
